Fried Apple Hand Pies Recipe

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

2/3 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

4-5 tablespoons ice water

4 large apples, peeled, cored, and diced

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/8 teaspoon ground cloves

2 tablespoons lemon juice

Oil for frying
Directions
In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Gradually add ice water, one tablespoon at a time, and mix until the dough comes together.
Divide the dough into 8 equal portions, flatten into discs, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for 30 minutes.
In a saucepan, combine the apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and lemon juice. Cook until apples are tender.
Roll out each dough portion into a circle, place apple filling on one side, fold over, and seal the edges with a fork.
Heat oil in a skillet and fry the hand pies until golden brown on both sides. Drain on paper towels.
Serve the fried apple hand pies warm and enjoy the delicious flavors!
